Catarina - a beautiful mountain town

The beautiful town of Catarina is spread on the mountain hills of a collapsed volcano. The climate and the natural environment here is very special paradise like for tropical flora to grow lush and wild - flowers, plants, fruit and vegetables.

Walking up on the main street of this little town you pass by the office of the local padio then the picturesque artisan shop and the small market on the same street. Up on the hill you see the church. And all the way you enjoy the greenery of tropical vegetation and the beauty of many flowers

Catarina's garden nurseries

It is like a tropical garden everywhere. Many small family nurseries produce flowers and ornamental plants for Central Nicaragua - Granada, Masaya and the capital Managua.

Mirador de Catarina

Located on the top of the highest hill of Apoyo Lagoon (Laguna de Apoyo) the Catarina viewpoint (Mirador de Catarina) offers a superb panoramic sight. You can see the whole lagoon as well as Lake Nicaragua and Mombacho volcano.

Mirador de Catarina is a mountain park attractive for tourists and a popular weekend place among Nicaraguans. It is all green forest around and the refreshing feeling of cool pure air.

Horse riding is offered by local people and could be a unique experience for tourists
