León - the second largest and one of the oldest cities in Nicaragua is located about 100 km north from Managua and can be easily reached by the new highway.
This historical city has architecturally interesting center with many old, colonial houses, streets, monuments, and churches. León has more colonial churches and cathedrals per capita than any other place in Nicaragua
The grand Cathedral of the Assumption is known as the largest cathedral in Central America. Built in 18 century this colonial heritage remains one of the most popular tourist attraction in the city, situated in its very core at the Central Park. |

The oceanside is just 25 kilometers from León - the beaches of Poneloya and Las Peñitas are the León's favorite weekend places and world famous surfing resorts.
